ER #9

City Hall Elevator Rumblings #9

Rider #1: That didn’t go too well.

Rider #2: Are you talking about the council pulling the chamber’s $1, 675,000 “economic development” contract so they could actually read the document before sipping more Kool-Aid to approve it at a later date?

Rider #1: Yeah. Now, we are going to have to shovel some more “economic development” droppings on the agreement and crank up the “jobs created” numbers by adding more fry cooks for In-N-Out Burger and Freebird World Burrito. If that wasn’t bad enough, we may have to pay the city $20 instead of the $10 originally stated for the agreement to “manage” the Texas Stadium sign revenue contract that brings in about $450,000 of city money that isn't going to the city. Hopefully, these bucks will sneakily fund a Cowboy Stadium suite. After all, we have to protect “family” interest so the Capo remains calm and “economic development” happens!

Rider #2: I’m with you on that. I’ve already got my We’re #1 and You’re Not foam finger ready for the Redskins game on Monday. I plan to flash it on the JumboTron for all those pesky tax payers and critics who aren’t part of our “economic development” team or a member of the “family!”

Ed. Note: When the council approves the agreement with the chamber (which you know they will) for 2011-12, the total city money funneled to this non-profit organization could be $2, 075,000+. The question that should be asked is: Really...why?

A note from counsel: These “candid” elevator conversations have been injected with fabricated nouns, verbs, adjectives, conjunctions, adverbs, modifiers and maybe a few dangling participles….Mark Holbrook
