Being the mayor of Irving is a tough job. It is a time consuming job. And the job requires a tremendous amount of primping and preening to ensure the city looks good. Maybe, that should be restated as the mayor needing to look good!
And frankly, the job would be even tougher if the current mayor spent as much time addressing the actual concerns of the city as opposed to zipping all over the creation to leap in front of a camera or TV crew for a photo op.
The following documents recent activities of your mayor acting on your behalf. Staff of the CCR would include pics of mayor BVD helping to fill the numerous pot holes around the city, or seeing that slum apartments are razed, or monitoring the slow progress on some road reconstruction projects, but these pics just don’t exist in the city archives. And the photo of mayor BVD conducting an illegal meeting to identify the finalist for the city manager’s job may have been redacted by the city attorney who previously advised the council, with the assent of councilman John Danish, that the meeting was legally posted. (Staff of the CCR understands that the redacted photo could have shown mayor BVD, John Danish, Charles Anderson, Dennis Webb, Gerald Farris, Tom Spink and Brad LaMorgese with egg all over their face while dining on all the crow they had to consume for this egregious legal blunder! And to think that Danish and LaMorgese are both attorneys.)
However, to recognize the hard work and time devoted by mayor BVD to the city, staff of the CCR would like to join with the NPD Foundation and recognize her achievements to promote the city herself. Without her tireless efforts, the DMN would be less colorful...just a lot of black and white space filled with considerable verbiage on the problems and issues that require immediate attention, but seemingly not being addressed by mayor BVD. When asked, give generously to the NPD Foundation to help a poor soul realize that there are others living on this planet. The Foundation is about to run out of funds and film with mayor BVDs campaign for re-election just getting started.
