We apologize. Mea Culpa! And hopefully this will not happen again...missing a major link in the city’s chain that entwines, fines and taxes the citizenry.
Thanks to an alert reader and follower of city affairs, we were notified that Big Brother is in the process of training Little-Brothers. Yes, Irving’s Capo of the Lubbock Mafia (the city manager) is expanding his reach even deeper into the soul of the community -- your next door neighbor.
As if it wasn’t bad enough that there is a plethora of Code Enforcement thugs to have one on every corner of the city, the Capo is allowing his Enforcers to start a program to help turn neighbor against neighbor. Yes, the city is going to train citizen code enforcers...Code Cadets.
The “mission” of this new band of Citizen-Enforcers is ”...become trained in recognizing code violations and initiate action to gain voluntary compliance.”
The only hope left is that these folks are not allowed to carry firearms or be issued brown shirts. And you thought that George Orwell’s 1984 was just a good fictional read. Think again...but don’t comment aloud. Your neighbor may report you!
