What a surprise! After all his years as a tax and spend, and spend, liberal mayor, Gears leaves office with a barbed-parting shot at his successor that is reminiscent of the quote attributable to disgraced former president Richard Nixon.
Showing little class, Gears said of the newly elected mayor that “she won't have me to kick around anymore.” Should one assume that Gears will now buy a dog and name him Checkers? Let’s hope not.
We are totally against cruelty to animals in Irving...even unelected ones.
