ER #20: Alms From the Rich

City Hall Elevator Rumblings #20

Rider #1: Hey, did you get your invite to the big fund raiser?

Rider #2: You bet. I can hardly wait. It was really nice of the chamber of commerce to host a fund raiser in their $485,000 Cowboy suite funded by city bucks to pay the $1,000 Texas Ethics Commission* fines for Councilmen Stopfer and Philipp.

Rider #1: I agree. This fund raiser will be bigger than a Hollywood premier. All the north Irving heavy givers hitters that buy contribute to council campaigns will be there. You’ll probably be rubbing elbows with Billy Bob, Heinz Simon, J. Ralph Ellis, Charles Cotton, David Dean and all their associates. And you can bet that they will be there with open checkbooks and updated agendas.

Rider #2: It was also nice of the chamber to invite the Irving Firemen’s PAC officers. After all, it was all their hard “work” and the contributions from the north Irving moneybags that made the Texas Ethics Commission fines possible for Councilmen Stopfer and Philipp. In fact, this fund raiser will probably collect enough money to buy the PAC a new fire truck. Now, that would be real political payback.

Rider #1: Be sure and save me a seat. After dealing with all the heavy hitters, I will want to watch the Cowboys whip up on the Seahawks...like that is going to happen.
