CCRs dwT#53: Salaam mayor BVD

Dylan sez…
(a short and timely jotting for CCR twits Tweeters)

12-12-13

dwT #53:   Heartbroken!  Devastated!  Yes, that must be how mayor BVD must be feeling while trudging around the sands of Saudi Arabia and not in beautiful downtown Irving to vote on the ARK Entertainment Center funding at the 12-12-13 city council meeting.

Backstory clue for the information impaired:   While the city council will be approving the funding for the ARK-inspired entertainment center, mayor BVD is on a junket.  And we all know how she must be crestfallen about not being able to vote on the ARK funding for this project.  After all, she has passionately assured the “rah, rah” squad of the chamber of commerce that she is running for re-election especially to see that this project is completed.  Do you suspect that this was really just campaign drivel, since she has opposed the ARK project long before Noah even started construction and pounded the first nail on the original ark?

For the record, it appears that the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia has an awful lot of oil money to throw around, so they are covering all the expenses (per a report the CCR perused) for a group of mayors to come visit.  Of course, the trip is non-political (aren’t they all?), so everyone will be chatting about water desalination plants (maybe build one on the Elm Fork?), educational institutions (establish the Halal College of Baking in south Irving?) and tour a large oil field (maybe drill a well on the new library site and really strike something good?).

Hopefully, this jaunt by mayor BVD will at least equal the flow of tourist and tourist dollars that a recent Australian trip by another member of the council participated in.  (Staff of the CCR is still looking for when the Roo Ranch Development or Barbie Manufacturing facility -- to smoke shrimp -- will break ground.)

There could be one wrinkle to this fun holiday away from the rigors of “leading” the city and campaigning for re-election via promises to do what should have already been done.  Information that staff of the CCR read did note that the Saudi government was picking up the complete tab for this little foray to Dune country.  Of note is the ‘rumor on the street’ (which the CCR always considers a valid source and as factual as the fifth “Gospel According to MarkH” for validity) that a “sugar daddy” campaign-contributor to mayor BVD recently pumped and infused her campaign fund to cover any cost associated with the trip.  Without bogging down in a religious discussion or thumping debate of “new” testament doctrine, we’ll just wait for mayor BVD to return to clear the air on this funding issue and prattle about how beneficial this trip was to for the city.  Maybe, we’ll even see some camel races at Lone Star Park as a result of her diligent efforts in Saudi Arabia!

However, there could be one very despondent note to this whole Saudi Arabia trip for mayor BVD.  Did having to wear a hijab headscarf prevent mayor BVD from flipping her mane to impress the sheiks with her ability to be self-aggrandizing?

A note from counsel:  Some “Tweets” from Dylan Westie have been injected with fabricated nouns, verbs, adjectives, conjunctions, adverbs, modifiers and maybe a few dangling participles….Mark Holbrook
