Dylan Sez: #17 Vote for Me

                                                    Dylan Sez:

Don’t forget.  There will be a local election for city council seats on May 1, 2021.

Due to the pandemic causing shelter-in-home, attempting to ensue there is always a BaconBits supply available, and binging on the Animal Planet channel, my information base for city happenings is somewhat limited.  Also, attending the daily PJs Cafe soap opera for ‘finding fictional facts’ has also been non-existent.

However, I do realize every vote is necessary to ensure good folks represent the citizens of the city in a fair and impartial manner.

With this in mind, note these considerations.  You’ll be able to obtain additional election information from a League of Women Voters Guide, maybe a DMN article or OpEd recommendation, robo-calls which will curl all the fur on your body,  and a tsunami of political campaign brochures bloating your mailbox.

The Place 6 seat is not contested and is currently held by Ret. Gen. Al Zapanta.

The Place 4 race is contested and the seat is currently occupied by John Phil Riddle.  His opponent is Sunil Panakkal Mosa.  You must live in the district to vote for these candidates.

The Place 8 race is contested and the seat is currently occupied by David Palmer.  His opponent is Dennis Webb who recently completed a full term on the city council in Place 3.  This is an at-large district and all voters may cast ballots for these candidates.

Usually, I would offer my canine expertise, advice, and recommendations for specific candidates to consider voting for now.

Due to the items previously noted, I’ll only offer two suggestions for this election: 1) If an incumbent has seriously achieved the items/issues espoused when first being elected and does not have strings attached to  their voting arm being pulled by special interest concerns, then a vote for them could be acceptable; 2) An individual running against an incumbent should be analyzed as to their previous service in the community and any special skills they might bring to the office.  More specifically, a question could be considered to determine if there might be any hidden agendas moving them to run for this seat.

Finally, since both candidates in the Place 8 race patted my head when I was “almost” elected mayor of the city in 2014, it wouldn’t be fair for me to pick a favorite.  After all, most politicos favor anyone who likes them…head patting or not!

That being said, I’ll plan to vote early, open another bag of BaconBits, and watch the Netflix documentary about training special service dogs.  There is no uncertainty that one of these fine canines, if elected, could serve the citizens of the city in a grand fashion.

Maybe, even better than some politicos?  Woof.
