CCRs dwT #36: Vanishing Calories

dwT #36: Sadly for some, a significant political freebie may have just been erased from the chalkboard.  It appears that the Irving ISD may have done away with the free lunch program...for board members.  The district could not only save bucks with this action, but also calories for those board members who may have been depending on this supplemental noshing perk.  RIP free pizza.

Backstory clue for the information impaired:   With the start of the school year, the Irving ISD has instituted a new schedule for their meetings. (The link for all meetings is noted below.)  The board will still be meeting on Mondays, but the new schedule will have the Work Session on one Monday evening with the regular Board Meeting on the following Monday evening.  This means the work session meetings, previously schedule for noon, will now be in the evening at 6:30 PMErgo...no free lunch!  This change in time and days for meetings will certainly allow better parent/citizen participation for board consideration of concerns.  The week between the work session and the regular meeting will also allow for any unanswered or unresolved issues to be addressed before the start of the regular board meeting.  Good idea for having the work session one week followed by the board meeting the next week.  Bad idea for those who enjoyed noshing at tax payer expense.
