CCRs dwT #61: Temper Tantrum…Aisle One

Dylan sez…
(a short and timely jotting for CCR twits Tweeters)

dwT #61:  It doesn’t even take a ‘sniffer’ as good as mine to realize that maybe mayor BVD and the now-walked city manager finalist, Steven Sarkozy of Washington, might have participated in that old political game known as ‘mind meld.’  Today’s lexicon would refer to this as ‘talking points.’

Backstory clue for the information impaired:   With the city manager finalist walking away from the vote that would have taken place today to start the negotiations for his contract, there have been scads of media chatter as to why or how this could happen in beautiful downtown Irving.  And whether one reads the DMN articles* or watches the Channel 11 coverage* on this issue, staff of the CCR wonders if any readers noticed the similarity of “talking points” that mayor BVD and Sarkozy espoused when rationalizing the withdrawal?

For a city manager finalist and a sitting mayor, staff of the CCR cannot recall any recent incident when other members of the council were taken to task with such harsh verbiage.  Hearing terms like: toxic atmosphere, destructive attitude, dysfunctional, horrible situation, deep problems, etc. just seemed so out of place.  (Take that back as staff just recalled when mayor BVD called Anthony Bond a political whore.  Maybe this is where she set the precedent for mayoral crudeness.)

And in the frenzy to determine who the finger of blame should be pointed at by mayor BVD and Sarkozy, was it just coincidental that their comments echoed one another?  And a deeper question could be: why didn’t mayor BVD issue her verbal tripe to the DMN as Sarkozy did?  (Oh, one cannot see mane flips on the printed page.  Sorry, staff of the CCR forgot.)

While the staff of the CCR was surprised by Sarkozy’s outburst, we were not with mayor BVDs tirade.  Apparently her NPD** flared, but it almost seemed as if she had reverted back to her old council days when her SBS** caused outbursts for not getting her way on many 8-1 votes.  And now that she isn’t getting her way while conducting illegal meetings as mayor, she just needs a whipping boy council member for her inane actions.

For a mayor who purports to have class just dripping all over the podium, didn’t it seem rather unseemly how she characterized a sitting elected official that she serves with in the manner that she did.  How totally unprofessional and acerbic her comments were.  Of course, mayor BVD may have written the old adage: When you cannot win a discussion with the actual facts of the matter, then pound the table loudly and assassinate someone’s character.  And this is what she attempted to do to cover her muddy and erroneous tracks.

In light of a disastrous decision, illegal meeting and not getting her way, then it stands to reason that mayor BVD would rip the pearls off and put the gloves on.  And again, be the lone individual on an 8-1 attitude requiring adjustment.
