CCR 04-15-20 The Answer Is?

the   Controversial  Committee   Report
“We don’t raise sacred cows...we just butcher them.”

“The Answer Is?”

Well, dear readers, with the local and cable networks spewing bad news story after bad news story, there shouldn’t be any questions regarding individuals searching for other programming during these hectic and difficult days of isolation.

After all, the days are long, but the nights might sometimes seem even longer.

For those reading all the “doomscrolling” articles in publications, wake up!  Your reading habits require a quick change of pace.  Filling the brain synapses with constant gloom and doom does little to quell anxiety or create peace of mind.

Sure, reading books helps the clock tick faster for an extended period of time.  And texting friends and family has an almost immediate relief when checking on those close to you.  Why, even spending an inordinate amount of time with the family pet will brighten your day…and certainly, the pet’s day, too.

It would even be helpful if our local newspaper, The Dallas Morning New, was more caring of readers during this time of a tragic pandemic.  However, it appears the DMN is more interested in folks having to sign-up in order to read important local health advisories.  Signing on provides the DMN with the information to solicit future fees for their website.

Here’s a direct quote from DMN Editor, Mike Wilson who sent a response for this query to a staff member of the CCR, as to why you must sign-up to read their articles: “We believe our journalism has value and our asking readers to pay a reasonable price for it.”

While most businesses are catering to the needs of the general public, the DMN seems to be more intent on expanding their potential future income.

Regardless, one can still obtain all the necessary and needed information by utilizing those websites which do not prey on readers to increase their bottom line: New York Post, the two major D.C. papers, State website, Dallas County website, local city website, etc.

So, for now, if you are not a subscriber or sign-up for the DMN, there are more ways to obtain the necessary information which one might need to know.

Okay, dear readers, let’s have a bit of fun.  Here are some questions — CCR-Jeopardy style — you can respond to and take your mind off of: “What do I fix for dinner tonight?”  If enough folks send responses ( markholbrook13@yahoo.com ) to any of the questions another report will be prepared.  All responders will not be identified to protect their privacy.  And your humble scribe will even provide his responses.

   Here we go:

  • What are you currently missing or not doing the most?  (Do not include socialization with family and friends…we all miss that.)
  • What home/residence/mansion would you prefer to be isolated in?
  • If isolated with a “celebrity,” who would it be?
  • What will be the first thing you do when the stay-at-home edict is lifted?
  • Will you put all the toilet tissue, you hoarded, for sale on Amazon?
  • Which “medical expert’s” opinion do you value the most when watching daily TV updates?
  • Does the Dallas County Judge’s press conferences seem as if a zombie is speaking?
  • Have you become a Netflix or other app viewer for most of your TV programming? (Your favorite Netflix programs?)
  • Will the $1,200 Cares Act check make a difference as businesses are receiving billions and small businesses are teetering on bankruptcy?
  • Do you want to be tested for COVID-19 when the home isolation is lifted?
  • Will you immediately rush out if the in-house isolation is lifted at the end of April?
  • Where is the first place you want to go when the isolation is lifted?

Okay, dear readers, think these questions over, or add other items not covered.  Let’s hear what the huddled masses are thinking.  As is often said: “We are all in this together.”

Be careful.  Be safe.  Be sanitary!
